Well, it got to 11:30 and I was ready for bed, but Mrs M had other ideas and wanted to watch the fireworks on telly, so I poured myself a scotch and we sat down and watched hundreds of thousands of pounds go up in smoke.
Literally.
It was pretty spectacular though.
We then wished each other a Happy New Year, shook hands and hit the sack. Despite the cacophony of whizzes and bangs that were going on outside, I think I was fast asleep within 2 minutes.
Reading the news this morning, I was somewhat miffed to see that once again I have been overlooked in the New Year Honours List. Oh well, maybe next year.
OK, 2025, let’s see what you’ve got.
I went to bed at about 10.30 and watched a bit of Hootenany and Sophie Ellis Bextor on my phone …( ipad wouldn’t work without a password!). Didn’t think much of either of them. Found the London fireworks just after 12 and all I could think about was so much money going up in smoke and noise!!
Then, I think that World War 3 was going on in the neighbourhood. Horrendous racket. All I could think of then was whether or not our new rescue dog that we will collect on Monday is scared of bangs.( We lost our beloved schnauzer to cancer in December.)
Happy New Year anyway. Bah humbug!
Yes, I caught a bit of Ellis-Bextor on the telly before it all kicked off… wasn’t impressed at all.
It also seemed like people round our way are really bad at telling the time, as some were letting their fireworks off several hours beforehand!
Sorry to hear about Alexi.
Lightweight! We were up until gone 4am. Well yes, that was because we were on taxi standby duty for the 18yo who had gone into the centre of Nottingham. In the end our (sober) services weren’t required as she got alternate transport home. We stayed up to welcome her with open arms at 4am. You can read what you like into that. Needless to say the dogs have no snooze button so muggins was up and about and walking dogs and I was powered by very little sleep.
Anyway, Happy New Year to you, yours, and everyone else’s.
And to you, sir.
Ahh yes, I remember having to stay up until the wee hours on several occasions, to pick up one or other of the kids. It was usually the other. Seem to have got away with that this year 🙂
