That’ll Learn Him

Son is currently having driving lessons.

He has also bought himself a little car so we can go out practicing whenever we have some spare time.

I have to say, he is doing quite well.. although busy roundabouts still cause him some grief (and also to me, in the passenger seat!).

He took his theory test last week and passed that OK and, although he’s not yet ready for it, his instructor has advised him to book his practical test, as there is a bit of a backlog.

A bit?

He went online and booked the first available test he could find: March 2023.

In Leicester.

70 miles away!

He’s put himself on the cancellations register, so with any luck, he’ll get something come up a bit sooner… and nearer.

He’s already had one offered to him: 6th January in Bishop’s Stortford.

Jeez.

  1. I passed my test in Leicester aged 17..many years ago!! ( in a Standard 8, the family car at the time). Hope that he can get one before he gets his pension.

  2. I think my grandson next door has a test booked for June/July down this way and that was booked end of last year. Hope Harry gets on ok.

  3. I used to drive in Leicester every day of the working week. Hardly anybody in Leicester has ever passed their driving test. So Harry might be a bit of an over-achiever if he takes his test there.

  4. That’s insane! That’s not a backlog, that’s a piss-take! Cars will probably be driving by autopilot by then!

Well, at least he’ll be a brilliant driver by then! He might be a bit long in the tooth with 4 kids of his own, a dishwasher, and his own current Mrs Masher but at least he could have put what he would have spent on fuel towards his gas bill.
