I mentioned last week that the current Mrs. M and I went out for the night, as a bit of a birthday treat for her.
Last night, we did the same, but this time it was my Christmas present.
We went to see Magic Goes Wrong by the Mischief theatre group, for which she had bought tickets for me for Christmas.
Knowing how much I love magic and also comedy, this was a no brainer.
We had seen Mischief before at the same theatre, when they did The Play That Goes Wrong . It was very good and very funny.
They were then picked up by the BBC and had a short series shown on BBC1, where they did more plays that went wrong.
And again, they were very good.
But, for me at least, it all got a bit… samey: faulty props; misread lines, etc.
And I found last night was of the same ilk.
Don’t get me wrong, it was a very good show, and to do what they do takes a lot of rehearsals, planning and impeccable timing, I’m sure.
And – courtesy of Penn & Teller – they actually performed a couple of very good tricks, which wowed me a little.
Overall, we enjoyed the show and it was great to be in a theatre once again.
I love a good ilk. Did you have fries with that? I’ve seen Penn and Teller in residence in Las Vegas. They were just a bit bloody brilliant.
I saw them at the Apollo a few years back and they were fantastic.
And they took the time to meet fans outside afterward, which I thought was really nice of them.
To see them in Vegas though… that’s something.
I thought about you being in Aylesbury on Friday.. Glad Aylesbury hosted you well 😊
